What's Happening?
CoreMarine and Jumbo Offshore have been awarded a contract to transport and install soft-yoke mooring systems and hook-up FLNG vessels in Argentina's Golfo San Matías. The project, backed by Southern Energy S.A. and an international consortium, marks
a significant milestone for Argentina's gas sector as it enhances its export capabilities. CoreMarine will lead the project, contracting Jumbo Offshore for the installation of the mooring system, while also managing diving and construction activities. The project involves complex operations, including heavy lifting and multi-vessel SIMOPS, and is set to be completed with the installation of the Hilli Episeyo FLNG in 2027 and the MKII FLNG in 2028.
Why It's Important?
This project is crucial for Argentina's energy sector, as it represents a significant step in expanding its gas export capabilities. The collaboration between CoreMarine and Jumbo Offshore introduces advanced mooring technology to Argentine waters, potentially boosting the country's position in the global energy market. The project also highlights the growing importance of floating energy infrastructure, which offers cost-effective solutions compared to traditional fixed infrastructure. Successful completion could attract further investment and development in Argentina's energy sector, benefiting local industries and the economy.
What's Next?
The project is expected to proceed with the installation of the Hilli Episeyo FLNG in 2027, followed by the MKII FLNG in 2028. As the project progresses, stakeholders will likely monitor its impact on Argentina's gas export capabilities and its influence on regional energy markets. The successful implementation of the SSY technology could lead to further adoption in other regions, enhancing global energy infrastructure.
