Yagmur Gunes Achieves 1,000 Kills Milestone in Collegiate Volleyball

Yagmur Gunes, a senior outside hitter for Quinnipiac University's volleyball team, has reached a significant milestone by joining the 1,000 kills club. This achievement was accomplished during a match against Rider University in Lawrenceville, New Jersey. Gunes, originally from Bursa, Turkey, needed just 10 kills to reach the milestone and succeeded by the end of the second set. Her performance has shown remarkable improvement over her collegiate career, starting with 79 kills in her first season and increasing to 256 as a sophomore. Last season, she was just one kill shy of 400 after playing in 118 sets. Gunes is now the third Bobcat to achieve this milestone, following Aryanah Diaz in 2023 and Heather Wollyung, who holds the program record with 1,595 kills.
