What's Happening?
Hotelschool The Hague, in collaboration with House of Hospitality Amsterdam, is hosting a masterclass to showcase the use of augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR) in hospitality training. The event,
scheduled for November 19, 2025, at the NHOW Amsterdam RAI Hotel, aims to address the challenge of training and retaining skilled hospitality professionals. With over 80% of hotel staff having limited experience, traditional training methods are proving inadequate. The masterclass will feature AR/VR prototypes that simulate real hotel scenarios, enhancing learning outcomes and operational efficiency. Participants will engage with 360-degree video trainings and interactive simulations, gaining insights into the development process and discussing the practicalities of implementing immersive learning.
Why It's Important?
The introduction of AR/VR in hospitality training represents a significant shift in how the industry approaches skill development. By leveraging immersive technology, hotels can provide more effective training, leading to improved service quality and employee confidence. This innovation is crucial for the Dutch hospitality sector, which faces a shortage of experienced professionals. The adoption of AR/VR could set a precedent for other industries, highlighting the potential of technology to address workforce challenges. Stakeholders, including hotel managers and HR professionals, stand to benefit from more efficient training processes and better-prepared staff.
What's Next?
Following the masterclass, there may be increased interest in adopting AR/VR training across the hospitality sector. Hotelschool The Hague and its partners could expand their offerings, developing more comprehensive training modules. The success of this initiative could prompt other educational institutions and industries to explore similar technological solutions. Additionally, feedback from the event could lead to further refinement of the prototypes, enhancing their effectiveness and applicability.
