What's Happening?
Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini emphasized the significant role of self-help groups (SHGs) in empowering women economically during the closing ceremony of the Saras Aajeevika Mela-2025 in Panchkula. He
praised the craftsmanship of local artisans and the importance of supporting their products to nurture small entrepreneurs. Saini launched two digital platforms, the Swaapan Digital Gram Bazar Portal and the Sanjha Bazaar Sales Portal, aimed at expanding market outreach for SHGs. These platforms offer features like online product registration and real-time sales data, enhancing the income potential for rural women.
Why It's Important?
The initiatives by the Haryana government to support self-help groups are crucial for promoting economic self-reliance among women. By providing digital platforms for SHGs, the government is facilitating greater market access and income opportunities for rural women, contributing to their financial independence. This empowerment can lead to improved living standards and social status for women, fostering gender equality. Additionally, the focus on local artisans aligns with the 'Vocal for Local' movement, encouraging sustainable economic practices and reducing dependency on external markets.
