Ann and Oscar 'Pepe' Perron, a couple from Cumberland County, have been honored with the Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Philanthropy by the Tennessee Board of Regents. The award recognizes their significant contributions to Roane State Community
College, particularly in supporting the Diane and Jay Brown Campus in Crossville. Since 1995, the Perrons have been instrumental in advancing the college's mission through financial support and advocacy. Their efforts have led to the establishment of a permanent campus facility and the expansion of academic programs, including health sciences and nursing.
Why It's Important?
The Perrons' philanthropic efforts have had a profound impact on the local community by enhancing educational opportunities and accessibility. Their contributions have addressed critical barriers for students, such as the need to travel long distances for health-related courses. By supporting the development of local educational infrastructure, the Perrons have played a key role in fostering community growth and student success. Their recognition serves as an example of how individual philanthropy can drive positive change in higher education and community development.
