What's Happening?
The Innovation Incubator (IN2) program, coadministered by the U.S. Department of Energy’s National Laboratory of the Rockies (NLR), has awarded funding to four companies to advance technologies aimed at improving
affordable housing and energy efficiency. The companies—Habitat for Humanity of Greater Los Angeles, National Grid, WinnCompanies, and Tucson Electric Power—will share a $750,000 funding pool to develop and test their technologies. These initiatives include AI-powered tools for site planning and construction, automated demand management systems for power grids, and microgrid-powered cooling centers. The program aims to bridge the gap between pilot projects and real-world applications, accelerating the deployment of innovative solutions.
