Katsina State, under the leadership of Governor Dr. Umar Dikko Radda, has implemented a transparent and merit-based recruitment process for its health workforce. On February 12, 2026, 1,020 frontline health workers received appointment letters, marking
a significant shift from traditional recruitment practices often marred by favoritism. The process prioritized competence and experience, with over 75% of the new recruits being existing casual workers. This initiative is part of a broader reform agenda aimed at strengthening the state's health system, including upgrading 268 Primary Health Care facilities and investing in essential medical supplies and infrastructure.
