What's Happening?
The National Internet Exchange of India (NIXI) is implementing several initiatives to enhance digital security and promote a multilingual Internet. NIXI is addressing issues of fake and incomplete domain registrations by scrutinizing around 3,000 Whois records daily, suspending services if incorrect information is provided. Additionally, NIXI is tackling online banking fraud, which has seen a significant increase, by creating secure domain zones like ".bank.in" and ".fin.in" in collaboration with the Reserve Bank of India. These zones aim to prevent unauthorized domain acquisitions and provide a secure environment for users. Furthermore, NIXI is involved in the 'Mera Gaon Mera Dharohar' project, which provides digital identities to over 600,000 villages with domain names in all 22 official Indian languages, aiming to reduce the digital divide.
