Sikorsky, a subsidiary of Lockheed Martin, has announced plans to establish helicopter production facilities in Europe if its proposal for NATO's Next Generation Rotorcraft Capability (NGRC) is selected. This announcement was made ahead of the Farnborough
Airshow and the launch of the NGRC Concept Design phase by the NATO Support and Procurement Agency (NSPA). Sikorsky aims to develop, produce, and conduct component manufacturing in Europe, partnering with leading European aerospace firms and suppliers. The NGRC project seeks to replace approximately 1,000 medium helicopters currently in service with NATO nations by the late 2030s and 2040s.
