Several school districts in North Texas are holding Voter Approved Tax Rate Elections (VATRE) to seek approval from residents for property tax rate increases. Districts such as Carroll, HEB, Garland, Denton, Northwest, Bland, Rockwall, Crandall, and Peaster

According to Libby Cohen, executive director of Raise Your Hand Texas, the state legislature would have needed to invest $19.6 billion into public education to maintain the same purchasing power as in 2019.
