What's Happening?
Ethio Telecom is set to expand its telehealth services to an additional 200 hospitals, facilitated by the extension of its 4G network to 93 more cities. Yohannes Getahun, the director of enterprise solutions at Ethio Telecom, emphasized the company's
commitment to building a fully digital Ethiopia, with a particular focus on enhancing healthcare services. This initiative is part of Ethiopia's broader digital transformation program, which aims to improve healthcare quality and accessibility, especially in rural areas. The 4G network upgrades will cover various locations, including West Ridge Nkemt, Bako, Shambu, Nejo, Dembi Dolo, and Gimbi.
Why It's Important?
The expansion of telehealth services in Ethiopia is a significant step towards improving healthcare accessibility and quality, particularly in rural areas where medical facilities are often limited. By leveraging the expanded 4G network, Ethio Telecom is enabling hospitals to offer better telehealth services, which can lead to improved patient outcomes and more efficient healthcare delivery. This development is crucial for Ethiopia's digital transformation goals, as it not only enhances healthcare but also supports the country's economic growth by fostering a more connected and technologically advanced society.
