A 58-year-old man, identified as Jon Lindskog, drowned after his boat capsized at Captree State Park in Islip. The incident occurred on Friday night when Lindskog attempted to launch his 16-foot vessel, which repeatedly struck the docks before capsizing.
Emergency responders, including state police, state parks police, Suffolk County Marine Patrol, and the Coast Guard, arrived at the scene around 8:37 p.m. Lindskog's body was recovered from beneath the vessel and he was pronounced dead at Good Samaritan Hospital. The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
