Carol M. Baratka, a resident of Channahon, passed away on January 31, 2026, at the age of 88. She was the beloved wife of John H. Baratka and a devoted mother to her children John C., Karen A. Vaughan, David, and Daniel. Carol was also a cherished grandmother
and great-grandmother, leaving behind a large family that includes grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was the sister of Charles and Michael Horejs, and was preceded in death by her sister Lenora Horejs and her parents Charles Sr. and Stella Horejs. A visitation is scheduled from 4 pm to 8 pm on Friday at Hallowell & James in Downers Grove, with a mass to be held at St. Ann’s Church in Channahon on Saturday. Interment will follow at Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Hillside.
