Thales has introduced a new miniaturized sonar system, the Sonar 76Nano, which is enhanced with artificial intelligence capabilities. This system is designed to meet the undersea warfare priorities set
by the UK and NATO partners. The Sonar 76Nano is developed to equip medium, large, and extra-large unmanned underwater vehicles with dual capabilities for anti-submarine warfare and critical underwater infrastructure protection. The system transitioned from concept to prototype in just 10 months and will be showcased to the UK Royal Navy on December 17. The development aligns with the UK's 2025 Strategic Defence Review, which outlines plans for a new sensor network, Atlantic Bastion, aimed at persistent underwater surveillance in the North Atlantic.
