The USS Cincinnati Cold War Memorial Peace Pavilion, located in West Chester's Voice of America MetroPark, is ready for its dedication. The memorial, which cost $9.5 million, features parts of the former USS Cincinnati submarine, including its conning
tower and rudder. The design resembles a full-scale submarine in dry dock, allowing visitors to walk through it. The memorial aims to honor the investment made by the U.S. during the Cold War and connect the submarine's story with Greater Cincinnati's role in the nation's Cold War efforts. The dedication will include public and private ceremonies, with around 120 former sailors expected to attend. The site will host various activities, including a flag-raising ceremony and a christening of the memorial.
