In Buenos Aires, Argentina, an event called Ratapalooza promotes the adoption of rodents that were previously used in scientific research. Organized by Team Ratas, the event aims to find homes for lab rats and mice that are no longer needed for research purposes.
The initiative, which started in 2016, has successfully rehomed over 3,000 animals. Team Ratas works with 90 foster homes and has rescued more than 8,000 animals from 11 labs. The organization emphasizes the intelligence and affectionate nature of rats, encouraging people to consider them as pets.
