What's Happening?
Art Basel has released the exhibitor list for its 2026 Paris edition, set to take place at the Grand Palais from October 23 to 25. The event will feature over 200 exhibitors from 41 countries, with 181 participating in the main Galeries section. Newcomers
include Luxembourg + Co, Sikkema Malloy Jenkins, and Tina Kim Gallery. Notably absent this year are Andrew Edlin Gallery and Air de Paris, the latter having declared bankruptcy. The event will also see a record number of joint booths, highlighting collaborative efforts among galleries.
Why It's Important?
Art Basel Paris serves as a significant platform for galleries to showcase their artists and engage with a global audience. The inclusion of new galleries and the absence of others reflect the dynamic nature of the art market, influenced by economic conditions and strategic decisions by gallery owners. The trend of joint booths indicates a shift towards collaboration, which can enhance the diversity and richness of the exhibitions. This event plays a crucial role in shaping the careers of artists and the strategies of galleries in the international art scene.
