Despite the calorie restriction, participants engaged in 90-minute cycling exercises three times over five days. The study found that exercise during weight loss led to an increase in mitochondrial proteins in muscle tissue, indicating healthier and more efficient muscles. Additionally, there was a decrease in collagen production, which is associated with muscle stiffness and aging.
