Jade Gas has signed a non-binding agreement to secure approximately A$1.1 billion ($771 million) in funding for the first phase of the Red Lake coal bed methane project in Mongolia. The agreement is with
Beijing Energy Linking (PTBEL) and its consortium partners, marking a significant step towards the development of the project. The initial phase involves drilling 175 wells, which is about 20% of the total planned drilling across the Red Lake Development Area. The PTBEL consortium will provide up to ten drilling rigs, with mobilization expected between February and March 2027. The funding structure is based on a revenue-sharing mechanism, with the consortium recovering its investment from future gas sales.
