Dane County leaders and project partners officially broke ground on Tuesday for the new Dane County Elections Center in Madison. This project aims to establish a dedicated, modern facility for the Dane County Clerk’s Office and countywide election operations.
The new center will be located at 2002 Pankratz Street in Madison, renovating the former Ale Asylum property for public use. The facility is designed to provide secure storage for election materials, facilitate voting equipment testing, manage ballot-related operations, and accommodate recounts. It will also support the year-round work necessary for administering elections. Dane County Executive Melissa Agard emphasized that the center represents an investment in secure, transparent, and efficient elections, acknowledging the foundational role of free and fair elections in democracy. She also thanked Scott McDonell for his efforts in bringing the project to fruition.
