What's Happening?
Central Electronics (CEL) has issued a tender for the establishment of a 1.2 gigawatt (GW) solar module manufacturing facility in Sahibabad, Uttar Pradesh. This initiative is part of the Make in India
program, aiming to boost domestic manufacturing capabilities. The project will operate on a revenue-sharing model, with the successful bidder required to pay CEL a minimum guaranteed amount annually. The facility will cover approximately 21,000 square meters, with a build-up area of 15,000 square meters. Bidders must submit their proposals by January 15, 2026, with the bid opening scheduled for the following day. The contract for the project spans six years, with a potential three-year extension. The successful bidder will be responsible for setting up the manufacturing line, commencing operations within 12 months, and managing all aspects of production, marketing, and sales.
