What's Happening?
Benue State has entered into a strategic partnership with the Cisco Networking Academy to enhance digital skills among its youth and civil servants. This collaboration aims to train 23,000 youths biannually in networking, cybersecurity, and digital literacy,
providing them with globally recognized certifications. The initiative is part of Benue State's broader digital transformation agenda, which includes enrolling over 10,000 youths in digital skills training and 40,000 civil servants in digital literacy programs. The partnership with Cisco is expected to provide structure and validation to these efforts, aligning with the state's goals of economic growth and public sector reform.
Why It's Important?
This partnership is significant as it positions Benue State to become a leader in digital workforce development, enhancing the employability of its youth and improving government efficiency through e-governance. By equipping young people with globally recognized skills, the initiative opens up opportunities in the global job market, potentially reducing unemployment and driving economic growth. For the public sector, continuous digital upskilling of civil servants is expected to improve service delivery and decision-making processes. This move reflects a growing recognition of the importance of digital skills in driving economic and social development.
