Marine Sgt. Henry David Volpe has been recognized for developing the Marine Corps' first fully NDAA-compliant 3D-printed drone, known as the HANX platform. This innovative drone, costing approximately $700 per unit, complies with U.S. laws prohibiting
the use of foreign components from certain countries. Volpe's work at the II Marine Expeditionary Force Innovation Campus led to the creation of a drone that can be modified for various military tasks. The HANX drone is part of the military's efforts to ensure compliance with the National Defense Authorization Act while maintaining operational capabilities.
