The University of Colorado Boulder is implementing a new requirement for students to complete an AI training module before accessing the university's version of ChatGPT Edu. This initiative is set to begin in August, with the aim of ensuring students have
the necessary tools and understanding to use AI responsibly. The Artificial Intelligence Strategic Steering Committee at CU Boulder is overseeing the development of this training module. The university had initially planned to roll out ChatGPT services in March but delayed the launch due to concerns about privacy, academic misuse, and cost. The expanded AI Strategic Steering Committee, created in 2024, will now serve as the central coordinating body for AI at CU Boulder, providing guidance on AI-related opportunities and initiatives across teaching, research, and operations.
