What's Happening?
The Australian Travel Careers Council (ATCC) has initiated a review of the National Certificate III in Travel qualification through a series of Travel Skills Taskforce (TST) industry forums. The first
forum, held on January 28, focused on Cruise, International Airfares, and Reservation Systems competency units. The review aims to ensure that the training remains relevant and aligned with industry needs. Participants included representatives from various travel and education sectors, reflecting a broad engagement with stakeholders. The review process is expected to enhance the curriculum and better align it with real-world industry requirements.
Why It's Important?
The review of the Certificate III in Travel is significant for the Australian travel industry, which is recovering from the impacts of the pandemic. By updating the qualification, the ATCC aims to ensure that the workforce is equipped with the necessary skills to meet current and future demands. This initiative supports the industry's growth and competitiveness by addressing skill gaps and enhancing training quality. The involvement of industry stakeholders in the review process ensures that the curriculum is practical and relevant, benefiting both employers and employees.
What's Next?
The ATCC will conduct four more TST industry forums to cover the remaining competency units of the Certificate III in Travel. These forums will provide further opportunities for stakeholders to contribute to the review process. The outcomes of the review will inform updates to the curriculum, which will be implemented to improve training and education in the travel sector. The ATCC encourages interested parties to participate in the forums and contribute to shaping the future of travel education in Australia.
