Soma and Neurite Density Imaging (SANDI), a diffusion MRI model, is emerging as a promising biomarker for Huntington's disease. This technique estimates intracellular signal fractions from sphere-shaped soma, correlating with striatal neurodegeneration
and motor impairments. The study demonstrated that SANDI metrics explained up to 63% of striatal atrophy and correlated with motor performance, highlighting its potential as a non-invasive biomarker and surrogate clinical outcome measure for Huntington's and other neurodegenerative diseases.
