What's Happening?
A recent report by HR data vendor Beamery highlights a disconnect between HR departments and other C-suite leaders in the development of artificial intelligence strategies within organizations. While HR leaders have
gained more input into task automation decisions, only 30% are involved from the outset in AI strategy planning. This exclusion can lead to workforce considerations, skill gaps, and employee engagement being overlooked in AI-driven transformations. The report surveyed over 170 C-suite executives, 115 HR leaders, and 200 early-career employees, revealing that CEOs, digital transformation leads, and CIOs are seen as the most influential decision-makers in AI, with CHROs trailing significantly.
Why It's Important?
The exclusion of HR from AI strategy development can have significant implications for workforce planning and employee engagement. Without HR's input, organizations risk implementing AI solutions that do not fully account for workforce implications, potentially leading to skill gaps and decreased employee morale. Involving HR from the beginning can ensure that AI-driven decisions align with business goals and support employee development. This is crucial for maintaining a competitive edge in the rapidly evolving AI landscape, where employee buy-in and effective upskilling strategies are essential for success.
