Kentucky is currently facing its most severe measles outbreak in 35 years, with 44 reported cases as of Wednesday morning. Five of these cases are located in Barren County. State health officials indicate that all 44 individuals affected are either unvaccinated
or their vaccination status is unknown. Three patients have required hospitalization due to the illness. Dr. Steven Stack, secretary of the Kentucky Cabinet for Health and Family Services, has emphasized the safety and effectiveness of the measles vaccine, which has been in use for decades.
