What's Happening?
The Wisconsin Alumni Association (WAA) has launched 'Badger Corps,' a new initiative founded in 2026 aimed at supporting military-connected students, alumni, faculty, and staff at the University of Wisconsin–Madison. Badger Corps is a community dedicated
to strengthening connections, providing support, and honoring the university's military heritage. Membership is open to anyone passionate about serving military-connected Badgers, regardless of their military service or UW–Madison affiliation. The initiative focuses on four key areas: providing financial support, researching and sharing UW's military history, hosting activities for military-connected individuals, and advocating for university policies that support these efforts.
Why It's Important?
The establishment of Badger Corps is a significant development for the UW–Madison community, addressing the unique needs and contributions of military-connected individuals. By creating a dedicated support network, the WAA aims to foster a more inclusive and supportive environment for veterans, active-duty personnel, and their families within the university. This initiative can enhance the academic and social integration of military-connected students, potentially improving retention and success rates. Furthermore, by honoring the university's military heritage, Badger Corps reinforces a sense of pride and connection among alumni and current students, strengthening the overall university community and its commitment to service.
