IHG Hotels & Resorts has announced the opening of its first Regent-branded resort in Japan, Regent Karuizawa, scheduled for 2028. Located in Nagano Prefecture, the resort will feature 58 rooms and villas, a specialty restaurant, multiple dining options, and a wellness center with a spa, onsen, and gym. Designed by architect Kengo Kuma, the resort will offer views of Mount Asama and incorporate natural hot springs. The development comes amid a rise in international visitors to Karuizawa, known for its year-round attractions and proximity to Tokyo.
