What's Happening?
At the ISTELive 26 conference, Andy Mann, an instructional technology consultant, introduced a STEM loaner library model designed to provide teachers with access to high-cost technology without the need for significant upfront investment. This initiative,
based in the Muskegon Area Intermediate School District in Michigan, allows educators to borrow items such as virtual reality headsets, 3D printers, and codable robots. The program is structured to be sustainable through strategic funding, including contributions from the Michigan Regional Education Media Center and the Civil Air Patrol Aerospace Education Member program. Teachers can borrow equipment for three weeks, with the option for orientation and feedback sessions to ensure effective use and maintenance of the technology.
