What's Happening?
The Bundeswehr has placed an order with Rheinmetall for additional 30 mm ammunition for its Puma infantry fighting vehicles (IFVs). This order, valued at several hundred million euros, extends a framework
contract from December 2022 for the supply of 30×173 mm ammunition. The contract, which runs until 2029, will now see several hundred thousand more cartridges delivered, worth around EUR1 billion. The Puma IFV is equipped with Rheinmetall's MK30-2/ABM cannon, capable of firing programmable ammunition over 2,000 meters against various targets.
