a medical emergency while his girlfriend, Laela Overmoyer, was visiting. Despite her efforts to perform CPR and the assistance of an ambulance crew, he could not be revived. The cause of death was determined to be bilateral pulmonary thromboembolism. Rayner's passing occurred 12 years and one day after the cancer-related death of his mother, Ann Ritter Rayner. Born in Rochester, Rayner grew up in Seneca Falls, Maryland, and Texas, and later returned to New York to live with his grandparents. He earned a business degree with honors from Walden University and worked for a computer repair and sales firm in Rochester. Rayner was known for his encyclopedic knowledge of video game history and was an avid collector of vinyl records and Lego products.
