What's Happening?
Kohler Generators and Brook Field Service have made a significant contribution to the Vermont Foodbank by donating $10,000. This donation aims to support Vermonters who are facing food insecurity, exacerbated by recent federal funding cuts and disruptions
to the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP). The initiative was spearheaded by Jim Brochhausen, owner of Brook Field Service, who recognized the impact of these changes on local communities. The Vermont Foodbank, which serves over 70,000 residents through its network of partner programs, distributed more than 14.5 million pounds of food last year.
Why It's Important?
This donation is crucial in addressing the growing issue of food insecurity in Vermont, particularly as federal assistance programs face cuts. The support from Kohler Generators and Brook Field Service highlights the role of private companies in filling gaps left by government funding. The Vermont Foodbank's ability to continue providing essential services to thousands of residents depends on such contributions. This initiative not only helps meet immediate needs but also raises awareness about the importance of community support in tackling food insecurity.
