What's Happening?
The Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) has awarded eight companies places on its £8.7 million Nuclear Energy Regulatory Justification Services Framework. This initiative aims to assist the UK government in deploying new nuclear
technologies by providing expert advice on the justification process. The companies involved include AFRY Solutions UK, Assystem Energy and Infrastructure, Egis UK, TUV SUD, Energy, Safety and Risk Consultants (UK), RSK Environment, Frazer-Nash, and PA Consulting Services. These firms will offer technical analyses and advice to inform decisions on new nuclear energy technologies, ensuring that the benefits outweigh the risks. The framework, which began on October 1, 2025, will run for five years with an option to extend for up to 18 months.
