What's Happening?
Elmhurst Children's Theatre is set to present 'Honk!', a musical based on 'The Ugly Duckling', at Blackhawk Middle School in Bensenville. The production is suitable for all ages and aims to entertain while
conveying a message of self-acceptance. Concurrently, Triton College is seeking volunteers and donations of plastic bags to create mats for the homeless, as part of a service project. The college's Retired and Senior Volunteer Program is hosting a Volunteer Fair to connect community members with local nonprofit organizations.
Why It's Important?
These community initiatives highlight the active engagement of Elmhurst residents in cultural and social welfare activities. The theatre production provides an opportunity for cultural enrichment and community bonding, while the volunteer initiatives address social issues such as homelessness. By participating in these activities, community members can contribute to local cultural development and social support systems, fostering a sense of community and shared responsibility.
What's Next?
The Elmhurst Children's Theatre production will run from October 24 to 26, offering multiple showtimes for community members to attend. Triton College's Volunteer Fair on October 30 will provide a platform for individuals to explore volunteer opportunities and contribute to community service projects. These events may inspire further community engagement and collaboration in cultural and social initiatives.
