What's Happening?
Swedish running brand Unna, founded by designer John-Ruben Holtback, has announced its first design collaboration with the U.S. running shoe specialist Hoka. The collaboration centers around a new version of the Hoka Speedgoat 2, a trail performance shoe. This reimagined version combines retro and modern aesthetics, featuring unique details such as the Unna slogan 'Finish in a Good Place' on the toe caps, with 'GOOD' on the left and 'PLACE' on the right. Additionally, the shoe includes removable rubber caterpillars as a design element. Holtback expressed his enthusiasm for the project, noting the personal significance of the Speedgoat 2 as his preferred trail shoe for six years. The collaboration aims to inspire movement and well-being, offering a versatile shoe suitable for trails, city wear, and everyday use.
Why It's Important?
This collaboration marks a significant step for Unna as it partners with a well-established U.S. brand like Hoka, potentially increasing its visibility and market reach. The partnership highlights a growing trend in the sportswear industry where brands collaborate to blend unique design elements and expand their consumer base. For Hoka, this collaboration could enhance its product offerings with a fresh design perspective, appealing to a broader audience. The introduction of the Unna x Hoka Speedgoat 2 could influence consumer preferences, particularly among those seeking versatile footwear that combines performance with style.
What's Next?
The Unna x Hoka Speedgoat 2 will be available for purchase starting September 12 in two colorways: Astral / Galaxy and Sea Ice / Cosmic Gray. It will retail for $170 in the Unna online shop and at London-based running retailer Knees Up. From September 19, the shoe will also be available in the Hoka online shop and at other retailers, including Dover Street Market. The success of this collaboration could lead to further partnerships between Unna and other brands, potentially expanding its product line and market presence.
