What's Happening?
RHB Bank, in collaboration with THE SHOUT GROUP, has released a festive film titled 'Dignity' for Chinese New Year. The film focuses on the themes of self-worth and empowerment, inspired by the true story of Yap Sue Yii, co-founder of Komuniti Tukang
Jahit. This social enterprise empowers women from the B40 community in Malaysia through sewing skills and fair income opportunities. The film uses the lotus flower as a central symbol of resilience and new beginnings, emphasizing that dignity is defined by belief rather than circumstance.
Why It's Important?
The 'Dignity' film underscores the importance of empowerment and self-worth, particularly for marginalized communities. By highlighting the story of Komuniti Tukang Jahit, the film draws attention to the impact of social enterprises in providing opportunities for economic independence and personal growth. This narrative aligns with RHB's commitment to fostering progress and empowerment, showcasing how businesses can contribute to social change. The film's release during Chinese New Year, a time of renewal and reflection, reinforces its message of resilience and the potential for new beginnings.
What's Next?
Following the film's release, RHB and THE SHOUT GROUP plan to extend the campaign with on-ground engagements and community-driven initiatives. These efforts aim to further promote the message of dignity and empowerment, ensuring it resonates beyond the film. By engaging with communities directly, RHB seeks to create lasting impact and support for initiatives that empower individuals to achieve independence and confidence. This approach highlights the role of businesses in driving social change and supporting community development.
