What's Happening?
SCADstory Atlanta has won Gold in Experiential Education & E-Learning at The Drum Awards for its innovative approach to campus tours. The Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) has redefined traditional
campus visits by creating an immersive storytelling experience that blends entertainment, education, and art. This initiative aims to engage prospective students and the wider public by transforming passive information delivery into a multisensory journey. The project involves a four-act journey that includes projection mapping, animation, lighting, fragrance, and a 360-degree musical score, all designed to inspire and connect with audiences. SCADstory Atlanta not only serves as a recruitment tool but also as a cultural attraction open to Atlanta residents and visitors.
Why It's Important?
SCADstory Atlanta represents a significant shift in how educational institutions can engage with prospective students and the community. By integrating entertainment and art into the recruitment process, SCAD has set a new benchmark for campus tours, making them more engaging and memorable. This approach not only enhances the recruitment impact by increasing student commitment but also contributes to the community by serving as a cultural destination. The project demonstrates the potential for universities to inspire through multisensory storytelling, offering a model for other institutions to follow. Additionally, it provides real-world training and professional credits for students, alumni, and faculty involved in its creation.
