Elgin is set to host a comprehensive Fourth of July celebration this Saturday, featuring a parade, a pet parade, and a fireworks display. The festivities will commence with a parade at 9 a.m., starting from the intersection of Slade and Douglas avenues
and concluding at Grove and Highland avenues near Elgin City Hall. The YWCA of Elgin, celebrating its 125th anniversary, will serve as the grand marshal. The parade will include 101 units, and attendees are encouraged to arrive early to secure a good viewing spot. In addition to the main parade, a pet parade will also take place, with 60 pets registered to participate. The day will culminate in a celebration at Festival Park from 5 to 10 p.m., featuring performances by tribute bands and a fireworks show at 9:20 p.m. Food trucks will be available, and attendees can bring their own food, though alcohol and pets are prohibited on festival grounds.
