The Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association (AOPA) Foundation has announced an expansion of its High School Aviation STEM Curriculum to include pathways for maintenance and manufacturing careers. This initiative aims to address the mechanic shortage impacting
the aviation industry by preparing students for real-world aviation jobs. The curriculum, available for free nationwide, has supported over 130,000 students since 2016. AOPA is forming an advisory board of educators and aviation leaders to ensure the program's effectiveness. The foundation plans to identify key skills, develop hands-on learning opportunities, and train teachers, with field testing scheduled for 2028.
