What's Happening?
The Saudi Red Sea Authority (SRSA) and Jeddah Municipality have signed an Integrated Coastal Collaboration Framework to enhance regulatory integration and marine oversight along Jeddah's coastline. The agreement
was signed by Eng. Saleh Al-Turki, Mayor of Jeddah, and Mohammed Al-Nasser, CEO of SRSA. The framework aims to develop regulations and compliance codes for marine and tourism activities, with Jeddah Municipality overseeing field implementation and inspections. Additionally, Jeddah Municipality launched 15 new marine patrol boats to improve environmental and marine surveillance, contributing to the preservation of Jeddah's marine environment.
Why It's Important?
This collaboration is significant for promoting sustainable tourism and environmental conservation along Jeddah's coastline. By enhancing marine oversight and regulatory integration, the framework supports the protection of marine ecosystems and the development of tourism activities that align with environmental standards. The initiative reflects Saudi Arabia's commitment to sustainable development and environmental stewardship, which are key components of the country's Vision 2030. The launch of new patrol boats further strengthens coastal safety and rescue operations, ensuring the protection of both natural resources and visitors.
