The Canadian Agricultural Human Resource Council (CAHRC) recently hosted a national webinar titled 'From Field to Boardroom,' focusing on the advancement of women in agriculture. The session brought together farmers, employers, and leaders to discuss new research findings and practical steps for supporting women in the sector. The webinar highlighted a decade of progress, with women now holding 42% of decision-making roles in surveyed workplaces, up from 34.8% in 2015. However, challenges remain, particularly in board leadership, where women account for just over a quarter of board chairs. The event emphasized solutions that have proven effective, such as CAHRC's Event Fund, which supported 22 locally led activities across 10 provinces, reaching over 890 women. These events covered topics like tractor safety, farm finance, mental health, and leadership. The webinar also featured discussions with partners from Farm Credit Canada and Syngenta, focusing on using shared research to guide investment and expand training.
