The Delaware Memorial Bridge has been equipped with a new collision protection system, marking the completion of an $89 million project. This system, consisting of eight 80-foot concrete cylinders known as dolphins, is designed to protect the bridge from

Delaware River and Bay Authority Chief Operating Officer Vince Meconi explained that these dolphins are anchored over 100 feet below the river's surface and are intended to deflect ships that might go off course.
