The Reynolda House Museum of American Art in North Carolina is set to temporarily close its historic house for seven months starting in January. This closure is to facilitate an $8 million upgrade to its HVAC
system, which includes replacing three of the eleven units that have been in operation since 1937. Phil Archer, the Deputy Director of the museum, explained that the new system will allow for better control of the environment in each room, ensuring the safety of the artwork while also enhancing visitor comfort. The museum's Babcock wing will remain open and is scheduled to host a spring exhibit titled 'Layered Looking: Making Sense of Art' in March. The entire museum is expected to reopen on August 5 for the fall exhibition.
