What's Happening?
CareCuts, a nonprofit organization in Knoxville, Tennessee, has been collaborating with the Garza Law Firm for the past five years to offer essential services to the city's less fortunate residents. Every Sunday, the organization hosts an outreach event
providing free haircuts, hot meals, clothing, and various support services such as housing assistance, job referrals, and healthcare through the Remote Area Medical (RAM) mobile telehealth unit. Founded in April 2016, CareCuts began as a grassroots effort to restore confidence and hope among the unhoused by offering free haircuts. Over time, it has expanded its services significantly, now including mobile showers and rehabilitation referrals. The initiative has been instrumental in helping many individuals transition into stable housing.
