What's Happening?
GE Aerospace has chosen StandardAero to build, maintain, and overhaul the CT7 engines for the UK's Leonardo AW149 New Medium Helicopter fleet. The CT7-2E1 turboshaft engine will power 23 AW149 helicopters ordered in March as part of the UK's NMH program.
The agreement includes spare engines, parts, and long-term services. StandardAero's facility in Gosport, England, will produce the engines and support future export contracts. The UK Defense Ministry selected Leonardo's AW149 over Safran Helicopter Engines' Aneto 1K.
