What's Happening?
Saudi Arabian company Midana has introduced a new high-speed target drone, the Razor 100, at the World Defense Show 2026 in Riyadh. The drone, capable of flying at speeds up to Mach 1, is designed to simulate stealthy platforms for testing radar accuracy
and training pilots against 'Red Air' threats. Developed in collaboration with Spanish company Sener, the Razor 100 has completed one test flight, with another scheduled for April to incorporate system adjustments. Midana, established two years ago, showcases around 20 drone targets of varying sophistication at the event.
Why It's Important?
The unveiling of the Razor 100 highlights Saudi Arabia's growing capabilities in defense technology and its strategic partnerships with international companies like Sener. This development could enhance the country's defense training and testing infrastructure, potentially leading to increased self-reliance in military technology. The introduction of such advanced drones may also influence regional defense dynamics, as neighboring countries assess their own capabilities in response to Saudi advancements.
