A study conducted by the University of Chicago and the Translational Genomics Research Institute has found that SuperAgers, individuals in their 80s and 90s with exceptional memory, do not possess a genetic advantage against Alzheimer’s disease. The research
examined 231 adults, including 142 SuperAgers, and found no significant differences in Alzheimer’s risk genes compared to their peers with average memory. This suggests that factors other than genetics, such as lifestyle and environmental influences, may play a crucial role in maintaining cognitive health in old age.
