What's Happening?
Jackie Keogh has been appointed as the Head of Philanthropy and Impact at REACH Community Development. With over a decade of experience in community development and affordable housing, Keogh is set to
lead efforts in expanding philanthropic partnerships and enhancing community-driven initiatives. Her career began at an affordable housing nonprofit in Massachusetts, which she helped transform into a nationally recognized community development corporation. Keogh's experience in Oregon includes leadership roles at the Portland Housing Bureau and Proud Ground, the largest Community Land Trust in the Pacific Northwest. Most recently, she served as the Executive Director for Rooted Homes in Bend, Oregon, where she led significant growth in sustainable and affordable homeownership communities. At REACH, Keogh aims to strengthen partnerships and ensure resources are available to support residents effectively.
Why It's Important?
Keogh's appointment is significant as it comes at a time when affordable housing is a critical issue in many U.S. communities. Her leadership is expected to bolster REACH's mission to create and preserve affordable housing, fostering inclusive communities. The rising cost of housing has led to the displacement of essential workers, and Keogh's experience in developing programs like the Workforce Housing Program could provide innovative solutions. This program, which gives housing preference to essential employees, has been modeled across Oregon, demonstrating its potential impact. Keogh's role will be crucial in addressing housing affordability challenges and supporting economic and social advancement through strategic partnerships and community engagement.
What's Next?
Under Keogh's leadership, REACH is likely to expand its affordable housing initiatives and deepen its commitment to equitable community development. Her focus on strengthening partnerships and securing resources will be pivotal in supporting residents and enhancing the organization's impact. As REACH continues to grow, Keogh's innovative approach to community development and her experience in workforce housing programs could lead to new models being adopted across the region. Stakeholders, including local governments and major employers, may collaborate with REACH to address housing challenges and support community stability.
